The BoniLine, 06/20/09

Impressive victory for the Marlins, though Emilio Bonifacio was definitely not a big part of it.

Emilio Bonifacio: 3 PA, 0 H, 1 K, 1 BB, WPA: -.080

Best Performer:
Dan Uggla: 4 PA, 1 H, 1 HR, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K, WPA: .060

Good to see Uggla on the BoniLine, but in a low-scoring affair such as this one, it would’ve been difficult to put up much more than the WPA that he put up. Really, this win is mostly credited to Josh Johnson, but more on him on Blogservations.

Meanwhile, another quiet night for Bonifacio. He did hit a solid deep fly that got caught up in center field and eventually tracked down, but he also was caught stealing in a critical 6th inning situation that could have brought home more insurance runs. For a guy whose primary offensive value is his speed, only 12 out of 17 isn’t going to get it done, as those outs are far more valuable than the extra bases he took. Thankfully, Dan on FishStripes noted that the roster moves are being made in preparation for Gaby Sanchez to move up to the bigs to play 3B. I can’t wait.
