Moti,

First off, welcome to the comments section on Marlin Maniac? Now, to the question.

I do think the Marlins can get a player who is close to major league ready, especially for Uggla. A straight one-for-one for Cantu would probably also net a major leaguer; last year, they were talking about Cantu-for-Jonathan Sanchez in San Francisco, and something like that could still be in the cards for the Marlins.

Then again, the Marlins are always looking for organizational depth, and pitching is a huge need in the organization at the moment. So the chances of a 2-3 propsect package that includes guys who are at least a year away are also large.

I'd say for Uggla, we could get a package that involves at least one player ready for the bigs, and I think the team would like that, along with some prospect lottery tickets. What position that player would play is a different story entirely, and all we can do is wait and see.

Lane,

I wouldn't mind using Hinske as a platoon partner in the outfield and have him fill in at first base as well. If we started him, he would not be bad though, maybe a bit worse than Cantu. Not the greatest contribution, but it's good on the cheap.
