Marlins’ Decade Top Ten Seasons: 2006 Miguel Cabrera

AUTHOR: Michael Jong | IN: Marlins | COMMENTS: None Yet

For our second #3 season of the Decade Top Ten, we’ll discuss one of the best Marlins of the decade in his best season of the decade. While Miguel Cabrera has always been an excellent hitter as a member of the Marlin, the 2006 season brought about one of the few campaigns in which Cabrera showed a passable glove, and that glove helped supplement an excellent season.

Our #4 and #3 seasons are actually tied in terms of WAR, so I won’t quibble about the order. He logs in tied for #3 on our list best Marlins seasons this decade. Let’s take a look at his outstanding 2001 season.

My Marlins Christmas Wish List

AUTHOR: Michael Jong | IN: Analysis, Marlins, Rants | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

As you all may know, it is Christmas Eve, the day portion of it (at least for me). This Christmas, I’m not planning to get much for myself. AUTHOR: Michael Jong | IN: Analysis, Marlins, Saber-Terms | COMMENTS: None Yet

Of course, you know about Dan Brooks’ site, Brooks Baseball, which gives us live updates on pitchers, complete with awesome graphics. But TexasLeaguers now has a tool that conglomerates that data for pitchers and hitters and gives us some awesome rate data.
In addition, I’ve done some work with Pitch f/x in by gathering player data by collecting all of the data from Brooks Baseball, a tedious task no doubt. However, Joe Lefkowitz has made [...]
