Moti,

As Joe Frisaro mentions in this tweet, keeping Uggla is a possibility. However, it would basically mean that the Marlins are scrapping any value for the future, as I doubt he'll get much value on a third year of arbitration.

Great point on the "dwindling options" for SF. If they really are interested in adding offense (rather than considering that defense or other game aspects could also help their team), then yes, we have a nice name that can help them. The fact that they seem to be the only suitor, however, works against us. No matter how much the Marlins say they are willing to keep Uggla, I think they'd be more willing to take less back.

It has to help the fish that most of SF's offensive targets have signed elsewhere (Nick Johnson,Atkins).Such a situation can only help our leverage.

Michael,

Sanchez is actually a lefty. Is there any chance we can actually keep Uggla? It would be dumb, but what if the possible return is horrible? Are we not better off with Uggla and trading Cantu? I know how you feel on the Cantu matter,I just wanted to agree with you haha.

JoeA,

Jackson mentions nothing on that point. If it involves Sanchez, I can't imagine the Giants being thick enough to add a prospect to the list of players, especially a decent one like Tanner. I think it would be Tanner + some mid-level guy or just Sanchez. For Sanchez, it's a yes for me. For Tanner, I'd like to see a similar caliber prospect come with him.

I will miss his bat and his home run call but not his glove. Michael, are they discussing Sanchez AND Tanner or Sanchez OR Tanner? The former seems like a good deal for the Fish.
