Moti,

One acronym my friend: RBI. It has to be the issue of RBI's I think. There's no reason they should keep both players unless they really feel that:

a) They cannot get a worthwhile return for Cantu (a mistake in valuation)

or

b) They value him too highly to give up at his price (another valuation mistake).

I think the team honestly feels it cannot compete without those RBIs, which is a scary thought for us Marlins fans. Plug Uggla behind Hanley and I'll bet he gets 100. Why do you think Cody Ross got 90? Uggla gets on base in front of him! Sometimes, baseball really is that simple.

According to Clark Spencer:
“Even if they're unsuccessful in trading Dan Uggla before the season, the Marlins have no intention of dealing Jorge Cantu to save money”

That makes me scratch my head. I am pretty sure there is virtually zero chance both of them will be back for financial reasons. Why do the fish value Cantu as much as they do? I might be wrong, but if Uggla returns, there is no chance in hell Coghlan doesn’t stay in LF.

Regardless, I have had enough of this nonsense haha. Let’s start the season already!!!
