And if he does accept arb, I think he&#039;d essentially be a salary dump for the Jays. I&#039;m not so sure it was wise ultimately.</description>

The issue is, you&#039;d then have to offer him arbitration, so that&#039;s a big gamble.

I think they should have spent that money elsewhere, but I still think it&#039;s a decent enough gamble to take.  They&#039;re hoping 2.75 mil gets them 60 IPish of average relief innings and a sandwich pick.</description>

Good luck with Gregg. I sincerely hope that, since you guys have a good number of bullpen options, that Gregg gets average leverage, seventh inning type work. He just isn&#039;t that good of a pitcher. And if he happens to get Type A status, I doubt anyone would sign him off your hands. I&#039;m not understanding the deal from the Jays standpoint either.</description>
