Here are your end-of-the-week Fish Bites to snack on during lunch. I myself am on lunch break, heading back to work at 2 pm. You should see both the series preview for the weekend set against the Philadelphia Phillies along with a review of the series split against the Cincinnati Reds today. The preview will come in before tonight’s game at Philly, though the Fish-Cap may come a bit after that. All of this remains to be seen.

– First, we’ll start with the series opener tonight. Roy Halladay takes the mound opposite our own Anibal Sanchez. I await the Marlins’ lineup’s utter devastation.

– I saw Creed’s lead singer Scott Stapp’s Marlins anthem “Marlins Will Soar,” a remake of his own song “You Will Soar” in the game that I attended, and I thought it was terrible at the time. Apparently I wasn’t alone, as Duk over at Big League Stew wasn’t a fan either. It’s pretty terrible, and the guys at Marlins Diehards would like to pretend it never happened.

– I linked to this yesterday, but it’s worth mentioning again. The Marlins not only designated Jose Veras for assignment, but also optioned Emilio Bonifacio to Triple-A New Orleans! This fulfills the dream of every Marlins fan. Shame it was about a year too late.

Fredi Gonzalez is worried about the Marlins’ fielding woes. We all are, Fredi, we all are. But we knew about it a while back. It takes some botched throws (the Marlins actually botched another pickoff attempt last night) to get the attention. You feel like if the Fish never got to those balls to begin with, nobody in the mainstream media or the managers would be complaining, out loud at least.
