1997 v. 2003?

The Florida Marlins won two championships in their history. The Miami Marlins have never played a game. Whether or not Marlins owner Jeffery Loria wants to admit it or not, the “Florida” part of Marlins history is very important to all Marlins fans. There were some hard times to endure, but for the most part, fans enjoyed watching these young Marlins teams.

Over the next couple of weeks, I will be taking a look at the Marlins rosters of the 1997 and 2003 World Series teams and comparing them. I will provide statistical background on each player and then I will open up a poll for you readers to vote on who you think the best player at each position was.

After going through all the positions, I will open up another poll asking you guys which team you guys preferred to watch. We will then tally that up, as well as take the votes of the MarlinManiac staff and based on a weighted point system, decide which team was truly better.

Will start this starting tomorrow with the catcher position, Charles Johnson versus Ivan Rodriguez. I really hope to have full participation from all MarlinManiac readers.
