The Marlins, in search of a third baseman, anywhere and everywhere, turned to signing Kevin Kouzmanoff to a minor league deal with an invite to their big league camp. I followed Kooz, during his time at Petco with the Padres and I think this is a good signing. Will he be the everyday thirdbaseman in Miami next year? I don’t know but he could. Will he hit 26 homers, like he did in 09? Probably not but he has a very good glove and I still think that if he can get right again, he can contribute something offensively. This is a good signing because it brings with it very minimal risk. He has not been in the majors in nearly two years and this maybe his last shot to get back. Kouzmanoff is 31 and the Marlins will be his 5th organization.
