Down on the Farm Report for the Miami Marlins: June 10th:

Double headers and a player no longer with the New Orleans Zephyrs picks up a victory when not even in attendance for the game. Jake Marisnick has himself a huge day for the Suns.

Triple-A:

New Orleans Zephyrs (4-3) @ Memphis Redbirds (2-5); Completion of suspended game from 4/10

Nick Green, 3B: 2-for-6, 3B (1), 3 RBI, 2 R, 2 SO

Jordan Brown, 1B: 3-for-5, 2B (1), 2 RBI

Brad Hand, SP: 5.0 IP, 4 H, BB, 5 SO

Jordan Smith, RP: 1.0 IP, K

The New Orleans Zephyrs scored four runs and jumped to a 6-2 lead in the tenth inning before the rain started pouring down and the two teams had to suspend the game back in April. The teams completed the game on Monday night, with Dan Jennings, who is now with the Marlins, being credited with the win.

Triple-A:

New Orleans Zephyrs (33-32) @ Memphis Redbirds (32-33)

Win 5-4

Kevin Kouzmanoff, 3B: 2-for-4, HR (2), 2 RBI, R

Kyle Skipworth, C: 2-for-4, 2B (3), 2 SO

Jared Rogers, SP: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO, 2 HR

Chris Hatcher, RP: 1.0 IP, H, ER, 2 SO, HR, SV (20)

Kevin Kouzmanoff had a huge game, leading the Zephyrs offensive charge to a 5 run night. Closer Chris Hatcher ran into some issues in the ninth, allowing a solo home run to cut the lead to one, but was able to bounce back and collect his 20th save of the season.

Double-A:

Jacksonville Suns (32-28) @ Birmingham Suns (39-24); Completion of suspended game from 6/9

Jake Marisnick, CF: 4-for-5, 3B (2), HR (8), 3 RBI, R

Danny Black, 2B: 1-for-4, 3B (1), 3 RBI, SO

Nathan Eovaldi, SP: 1.0 IP, 2 H, ER, 3 SO

Sam Dyson, RP: 5.0 IP, H, BB, 3 SO

Nathan Eovaldi only lasted one inning for the Suns before rain ruined his second rehab start with the team. He allowed a run scoring double, but was able to strike out the side. The Marlins will have him make one more rehab start on Thursday before calling him up.

Sam Dyson was huge for the Suns in relief of Eovaldi, as he had his sinker working and was able to produce plenty of weak ground balls. Dyson is currently on the Marlins 40-man roster and could have a chance at a bullpen role if the Marlins are to move one or two of their bullpen arms at the deadline.

Jacksonville Suns (32-29) @ Birmingham Suns (40-24)

Loss 7-3

Jake Marisnick, CF: 2-for-4, HR (9), 2 RBI, R

Noah Perio, 2B: 1-for-3, RBI, BB, SO

Rob Waite, SP: 1.2 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, BB, SO

Collin Cargill, 1.0 IP, 2 H

Marisnick had a hot double header, picking up hits in six of his eight at bats. Jake hit his 8th and 9th home runs of the season and was able to drive in 5 runs. Unfortunately for the Suns, that only led to one run.

A key moment in this game occurred in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and two outs. With Kyle Jensen at the plate, the home plate umpire called a high pitch strike three and ended the Suns chances of ending the inning. Manager Andy Barkett was tossed for arguing balls and strikes.

I was able to interview Barkett after the game and we discussed the missed call. I will have that interview up in the next day or so.

High Class A:

St. Lucie Mets (32-28) @ Jupiter Hammerheads (32-30)

Loss 4-2

Alex Burg, DH: 3-for-4, 2B (4), BB, SO

Austin Nola, SS: 2-for-4, RBI, BB, SO

Jose Urena, SP: 7.0 IP, 5 H, ER, 3 SO, HR

Pete Andrelczyk, RP: 2.0 IP, H, ER, BB, 2 SO, HR

Urena tied his season long with strong innings on Monday night. He struck out three, walked none, and allowed just five hits in his 12th start of the season. Urena is likely the Marlins top right handed pitcher in their organization and will likely get a call to Double-A at the conclusion of the first half of the season.

Low Class A:

Greensboro Grasshoppers (28-33) @ Lakewood BlueClaws (24-36)

Canceled Rain; Doubleheader Tuesday
