The Miami Marlins rode a career night from their sensational rookie phenom, Jose Fernandez, to a victory over the best team in baseball on Friday night. Fernandez struck 0ut 10 hitters in his seven innings of work and limited the Cards to just two earned runs. His 10 strikeouts were a milestone for a pitcher under the age of 21, as he was the first to do so since Felix Hernandez in 2007.

The Marlins hope another rookie can lead them against the Cards later today, as they will send out Tom Koehler to start. Koehler allowed five runs (four unearned) in five innings in his last start against the Phillies. He hopes to have a stronger start against a much stronger lineup.

Lance Lynn will take the mound for the Cards as they try to even the series. Lynn did not have his best stuff last time out against the Cincinnati Reds, as he allowed four earned runs over six innings, striking out six and walking three.
