With all the talk today about Ricky Nolasco trade, we can almost forget that there is a game today. How would the Marlins fare in the first game in the post Ricky era? Welcome to this edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Let’s jump into the quick recap: The Good: some nice defensive plays, The Bad: we lost and got swept, and The Ugly: missed opportunities. So lets jump into the full recap.

The Good:

We had some Good plays in the defense end of the game. We turn 2 double plays. Ed Lucas had an amazing double play in the 6th were he came out of no were to turn the play. Also we can’t forget Giancarlo Stanton throw out at home in the 8th and what a catch and lay out by Jeff Mathis! Unfortunately that’s were the good ends.

The Bad:

We lost 3-2 and got swept by the Cardinals. Let’s move on before I cry.

The Ugly:

Ok I think I’m going to cry after this paragraph. We had a lot of miss opportunities this game. Let’s start with the 3rd, David Freese strikes out Matt Holiday tries to steal 2nd Mathis throws to 2nd Derek Dietrich catches the ball while Freese goes back to first and Dietrich chases down Freese, then he throws to Logan Morrison. While all this is going on Carlos Beltran steals home and Morrisons throw was a little off giving the Cardinals a 3-1 lead. The Marlins also left 8 men on base. Including having Giancarlo at 3rd with one out in the 8th and not scoring him which would have tied the game. Just missed opportunities after missed opportunities today.

So the first post Ricky Era game didn’t go in our favor but you know what the Marlins have bounced back from worst this season and it’ll be nice to be back home this week. So until next… Let’s Go Fish!
