Henderson Alvarez no-hitter in process

Henderson Alvarez has a no-hitter through 7 innings. The Miami Marlins are facing the Detroit Tigers in the last game of the regular season. Alvarez has a good pace going and his breaking stuff has really been fantastic. Unfortunately for him and the Marlins, they are going up against Justin Verlander.

Verlander is spinning a gem of his own as he as only allowed 3 hits and has already struck out 10 Marlins through 6 innings. Since the Tigers are preparing for the postseason they have removed Verlander after the 6th inning and Doug Fister has come into the game. The Marlins can hopefully push some runs across against him and get Alvarez the win that he deserves.

Alvarez will face the bottom four hitters for the Tigers and then the lineup will roll over to the top. The Tigers are pulling players as the game goes on to allow their regulars to get some rest. I think this will play into the Marlins advantage as Alvarez looks to complete history.

If Alvarez is able to finish this, it will end an otherwise dismal season on a positive note for Marlins fans. It is always good to finish with your best game.
