Greatest Moment In Marlins History: #118 20-1 Game

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome back to the Greatest Moments in Marlins History. For moment 118 we are taking a look at the game between the Florida Marlins and the Atlanta Braves on July 1, 2003.

Why this game? Well there are a few reasons. Not only did we beat the Braves 20-1, but this game holds 3 team records for the Marlins.

The first record is most runs scored in a game with 20; the Marlins scored a run in every inning they came up to bat in except the 3rd inning, really breaking it open in the 2nd with 6 runs!

The second record is the Marlins got 25 hits in this game, with Miguel Cabrera, Ivan Rodriguez, and Luis Castillo each getting four hits.

Finally, we can’t forget the important baseball stat of total bases! The Marlins got a total of 43 bases this game!  This game was an offensive clinic, but we do have to give credit to the pitching as well. The pitching staff only gave up one run and 4 hits while striking out 12! All around this was one of the best games in Marlins history, statically speaking.

What’s next for the countdown? Come back again and see more great moments. Let’s Go Marlins!
