Welcome back to the Greatest Moments in Marlins History. The last moment we talked about was Ivan Rodriguez becoming a Marlin. It didn’t take long for Pudge to make an impact. For moment 87 we go back to April 8, 2003 when Pudge broke the team record for most walks in a game.

Now a lot of you are asking why being walked is in the Marlins greatest moments? Let me explain, you win games by getting on base so other players can score you, right? Also, it is a Marlins record so I thought we should have it in here. Pudge went up to bat 0 times this game according to the stats, but he reached base 5 times. Pudge was walked five times, for the Marlins record! That is insane. I understand walking a guy once or twice, but to walk him every time he comes up, and it be 5 times nonetheless, to me it is just amazing. Pudge was batting a .375 so far that season with 9 RBIs and 2 home runs. Maybe the Mets just didn’t want him to be the one to beat them. Regardless of the reason, five walks in a game stand to this day as a Marlins record!

What will tomorrow bring us for the Greatest Moment in Marlins History? There is only one way to find out. Join me next time as we continue our countdown. Until then… Let’s Go Marlins!
