Welcome back to the Greatest Moments in Marlins History. Let’s continue on with some more Marlins pitching records shall we? What would you say if I told you that we have a rookie pitching record on this list that is also a team single season record? Most likely you would say which one of Jose Fernandez’s record are you talking about this time? I would say you are correct. For moment 72 we go back to 2013 and Jose’s amazing rookie year when he post a .182 batting average against.

Jose posted an amazing .182 batting average against. Let’s put this into perspective: Clayton Kershaw, who won the CY Young that year, posted a .195 and the year he won his first CY Young he posted a .207. How about the player ahead of Jose in the CY Young voting, Adam Wainwright? He posted a whopping .248. Of course there are other factors that go into the CY Young Award, but being number 1 in the entire Major League in batting averages is impressive; but for a rookie is just amazing!
