The Marlins franchise record for home runs is held by Gary Sheffield, at 42 long balls. The hope for Marlins fans has been to see their current star Giancarlo Stanton break that mark, and become the first Marlin to hit 50 homers in a season.

That is something that has not been fulfilled yet and time could be running out on that. With the Marlins not currently discussing a longterm discussion with Stanton, 2014 could very well be the last season for Stanton in Marlins colors.

Our friends at Fantasy Baseball Crackerjacks take a look at the possibility of Stanton hitting 50 home runs in 2014. There is a lot that has to go right for Stanton to hit 50, but see what Clave Jones has to say about it.

2014 Outlook: Miami Marlins | CSN Washington

1. Can they score runs? The Marlins made a few surprise moves this offseason in bringing in veterans like Saltalamacchia and Jones. They shouldn’t transform the Marlins into a juggernaut, but they will give them some much-needed experience and depth. Surrounding guys like Ozuna and Yelich with vets should help their development and make the Marlins more formidable top to bottom.
