Marlins Vs. Cardinals Blog (Live)


Thanks for joining us for the Marlins first Grapefruit game of the season as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium. Today also marks the first start of the season for Rookie of the Year Jose Fernandez. The Marlins will start many of the projected opening day starters, including Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, and new catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

The Cardinals will send Carlos Martinez to the hill to take on the Fish, and the Marlins will look to give him an unpleasant beginning to his spring!

    That seventh inning rally was really sparked by some young players that struggled last year. Brantly got the lead off walk, which is so important if you are going to have a big inning. And Jake Marisnick hit a triple. Both of those are great signs that the Marlins are hoping continues.
