The Miami Marlins take on the Boston Red Sox in spring training action today at 1:05pm EST. The defending champs have struggled out of the gate this offseason, currently posting a 1-5 record, while the Marlins have worked their way to a 5-2 mark. Although it should be noted spring training records rarely indicate regular season success, this Marlins team has done a good job finding ways to win and increasing their confidence. A win today against the Boston Red Sox would only further those feelings.

Miami’s presumed 2nd starter will take the hill today, as Nathan Eovaldi will demonstrate his top-notch fastball for the Red Sox hitters. Boston will counter with Allen Webster, who has not had a great spring. A win today would give Miami their 2nd 3-game winning streak of the spring, and you can be sure that the Fish fans at Roger Dean Stadium will be excited for that.

Here is the starting lineup for Miami:

Rafael Furcal – 2B
Christian Yelich – LF
Giancarlo Stanton – RF
Jarrod Saltalamacchia – C
Marcell Ozuna – CF
Casey McGehee – 3B
Greg Dobbs – DH
Ed Lucas – 1B
Adeiny Hechavarria – SS

Nathan Eovaldi – P

A large majority of the opening day starting lineup gets the call this afternoon, and we can expect them to play about half the game and Eovaldi to throw 3 to 4 innings and stay under 50 pitches. One position to keep an eye on is third base. It is presumed that Casey McGehee has that spot on lock-down, but I am not so sure that someone couldn’t steal that role from him with a great spring.

For those of you wanting to catch the game live, there is no television broadcast of the game, and only the Marlins radio channel of 940 AM WINZ will have the call. Of course we will keep you posted on our Facebook page for those of you following along. Stop by and give us your thoughts. Go Fish!
