Fresh off their tie with the Boston Red Sox, the Miami Marlins will try to extend their loss-less streak to four on Friday afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals. Taking the mound for the Marlins, for the first time this spring, will be Henderson Alvarez.

Alvarez had missed his first start and several days of camp due to an infection on his right shin. The last time Alvarez took the mound for the Marlins, the team celebrated a no-hitter in walkoff fashion.

Opposing Alvarez will be Lance Lynn for the Cardinals. Brian Flynn, Steve Cishek, Adam Conley, Carter Capps and A.J. Ramos also are scheduled to pitch for at least an inning for the Marlins.

Here is the starting lineup for Miami:

Matt Angle – LF
Christian Yelich – CF
Giancarlo Stanton – RF
Garrett Jones – 1B
Jarrod Saltalamacchia – DH
Jeff Baker – 3B
Jeff Mathis – C
Donovan Solano – 2B
Adeiny Hechavarria – SS

Henderson Alvarez – P

Alvarez is expected to throw two innings in his first start of the spring. There has not been a set pitch limit, but I would expect the Marlins not wanting him to throw more than 25-30 pitches in his first start.

Today’s game will be broadcasted on Fox Sports Midwest, meaning you’ll be able to catch the game on MLB.TV if you want. We will keep you posted on our Facebook page for those of you following along. Stop by and give us your thoughts. Go Fish!
