With the baseball season upon us, I am going to start something a little new for the Marlin Maniac site. I feel we have been missing a good weekly power rankings post, and I aim to rectify that situation. We will provide you with our personal rankings and hope that you will let us know if you agree or disagree.

Power Rankings can be done in a couple of ways. They can list the order in which team the author believes has the best chance to win the World Series, or they can list which team is currently playing the best. To me, it is more fun to look at which teams are currently playing the best. We will take into account that most recent week, along with the overall records that the teams have posted.

Here we go:

  1. Detroit Tigers – 4-1
  2. San Francisco Giants – 5-2
  3. Los Angeles Dodgers – 5-3
  4. Tampa Bay Rays – 4-3
  5. Washington Nationals – 4-2
  6. Atlanta Braves – 4-2
  7. Pittsburgh Pirates – 4-2
  8. Miami Marlins – 5-2
  9. Seattle Mariners – 4-2
  10. St. Louis Cardinals – 3-3
  11. Milwaukee Brewers – 4-2
  12. Texas Rangers – 3-3
  13. Oakland Athletics – 3-3
  14. New York Yankees – 3-3
  15. Boston Red Sox – 2-4
  16. Chicago White Sox – 3-3
  17. Cleveland Indians – 3-3
  18. Toronto Blue Jays – 3-4
  19. Cincinnati Reds – 2-4
  20. Minnesota Twins – 3-3
  21. Colorado Rockies – 3-4
  22. Baltimore Orioles – 2-4
  23. Philadelphia Phillies – 3-3
  24. Houston Astros – 3-3
  25. L.A. Angels – 2-4
  26. Kansas City Royals – 2-3
  27. San Diego Padres – 2-4
  28. New York Mets – 2-4
  29. Chicago Cubs – 2-4
  30. Arizona Diamondbacks – 2-7

There you have it folks. Our week 1 power rankings. Like any early season power rankings these are likely to change drastically over the next couple of weeks as we gain a further grasp on which teams have taken a leap forward and what teams have regressed. Now it is your turn. Let us know what you think about the power rankings and where you would place the Marlins in relation to the other teams? Be sure to fire away in the comments below!
