The day is Sunday June 8, 2014 so you know what that means… Welcome to this week’s edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Comeback recap. With the final game in Chicago and the Marlins dropping the first two games of the series, how did the Fish fair in game 3? Quick recap- The Good: The Marlins win; The Bad: Henderson Alvarez hurt; and The Comeback: Down twice in the game the Marlins came back. Let’s dive in to the full recap.

The Good:

In the third game of the series the Marlins looked to prevent a sweep at the hands of the Cubs. The Marlins prevented the sweep with a 4-3 victory. Everything was also going great with Alvarez on the mound until the 6th inning.

The Bad:

With one out and a runner on 2nd a ball was hit to Garrett Jones. He fielded the ball and threw it too high for Alvarez. Alvarez, however, was not going to let the ball go by him and made a jumping catch then going for the bag. Unfortunately, Alvarez stretched for the bag and missed it. The runner was safe, but what was worse was that Alvarez wasn’t getting up and looked in pain. The trainer came out to check out Alvarez and gave him a 1 pitch warm up. Something didn’t look right and Alvarez was done for the day. We would find out later that he has a strain hip, and we all hope he is okay. The Cubs went on that inning to score 2 runs.  The good news is that the Marlins were not done.

The Comeback:

With 2 out in the 7th and a runner on 1st and 2nd J.T. Realmuto came up to bat. J.T. singled in Casey McGehee, cutting the lead 2-1. Adeiny Hechavarria then came up and hit a soft single to score Marcell Ozuna and tie the game. The Cubs regained the lead with a bases loaded walk in the 7th, but the Marlins were not out yet. In the 8th when the Marlins with 1 out and the bases loaded, Jones hit a sac fly to tie the game. Everyone advanced on the sac fly so the Cubs walked Ozuna to load the bases again. With the game tied J.T. came up and saw the ball hit the dirt and get away from the catcher. It was a wild pitch that scored a run and gave the Marlins the 4-3 lead. That would be all the Marlins would need as they went on to win.

Next up for the Marlins are the Texas Rangers in Texas for a game 2 game series. Cheer your Fish on and let’s get those Rangers. Let’s Go Marlins!
