Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there and welcome to this edition of The Good, The Great, and The Hits McGehee. Here is the quick recap for the game 3 against the Pirates- The Good: The Marlins win; The Great: Henderson Alvarez; and The Hits McGehee: Casey McGehee. Quick recap over, let’s have a look at how the Marlins won game 3.

The Good:

The Marlins won 3-2. The Marlins still lost the series 2-1, but this win prevented the Pirates from sweeping our Fish. The Marlins were down 2-0 at one point but our Fish did not give up.

The Great:

Henderson Alvarez pitched a great game today. Alvarez pitched 7 IP, gave up 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, and whiffed 6 batters. The bullpen backed up Alvarez giving up no runs and striking out 4, with only 2 hits in 3 innings. With that said you still need runs to win a game and boy did Hits McGehee come up big.

Hits McGehee:

Casey McGehee went 3-4 with 3 RBI and those 3 RBI came up when the Marlins needed it the most. The Marlins were down 2-0 in the 8th with a runner on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs and Casey came up to bat. With a 2-1 count Casey smacked the ball off the center field wall to score 2 and tie the game. The game went into extras and Casey came up to bat again, this time in the 10th with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out. Well on a 2-2 count Casey hit the ball high and deep into right field for a sac fly scoring the runner from 3rd to give the Marlins a walk off win!

Great win for the Marlins. Next up tomorrow the Cubs come to town. So go cheer on your Marlins. Let’s Go Marlins!
