The Miami Marlins executed Plan A on Monday, deciding to promote their two of their top pitching prospects. Andrew Heaney and Anthony DeSclafani were brought up on Monday, before the team took on the Chicago Cubs.
DeSclafani made his first start since the promotion and his third career start on Tuesday. Heaney will make his big league debut on Thursday.
In case the two don’t help turn the rotations woes around, the Marlins are also ready to scour the market for starting pitchers, according to Marlins.com Joe Frisaro.
The Marlins are open to dealing for a starting pitcher before the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline. The club just isn’t at the point right now where they are seriously narrowing down possibilities on the market.
Personally, I hope the Marlins don’t have to go outside and try to trade for a starting pitching, The team’s young depth should be enough to help the Marlins win as many games as possible.
The promotion of Andrew Heaney for essentially half a season should be expected to provide the Marlins a real, significant improvement in the win column.
