The stars seem to have finally aligned for Marlins fans and baseball fans everywhere as it appears that Giancarlo Stanton will compete in the Home Run Derby at the All-Star game for the first time in his career. Stanton has been the favorite to win the Home Run derby since the day he stepped on a major league diamond, but something always seems to come up to prevent this most perfect of unions. This season, however, he is healthy, leading the National League in home runs, and eager to participate so make your arrangements now to be in front of the TV to watch the performance you have been waiting 5 years to see.
Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton will finally get his shot in the limelight. Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, captain of the National League Home Run Derby team, reached out to Stanton this week about participating in the event. He agreed. “In Philly when I was there,” Stanton said on Sunday. “Still nothing’s for sure and set in stone.”
See all of Giancarlo Stanton’s home runs so far this in a great short video.
Marlins catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia received high praise from the Phillies for his kindhearted gesture during Tuesday’s game when Tony Gwynn Jr. was sent in to pinch-hit for the first time since his Hall of Fame father’s death last week.
A little, furry, possibly drunk Dennis Eckersley is the life of the party in Miami. Many thanks to Casey Pratt for pointing out this A’s puppet (and his chaperone) at Sunday’s game in Miami. He looks like a little Dennis Eckersley, and he’s a hit with the ladies

Another Sunday in the baseball season, and you know what that means. Welcome to this week’s edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Let’s see how the Marlins did in game 3 against the best team in baseball. Time for a quick recap- The Good: Welcome back Christian Yelich; The Bad: We lost; and The Ugly: The 6th inning. With the quick recap out of the way, let’s go more in depth with the full recap.
Fans, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Finally, Giancarlo Stanton (barring injury) will be crushing home runs on national television during this year’s Home Run Derby.
The Marlins start a 6 game home stand this Friday with a 3 game series against the number 1 team in baseball, the Oakland Athletics. Jason Burke over at Swingin’ A’s contacted me with a few question about our Marlins and he returned the favor by answering a few of my questions about the A’s. (Here is my interview with Swingin’ A’s)
