Down on the Farm Report for the Miami Marlins: June 18th:

Flynn’s defense betrays him in a pivotal seventh inning, Alvarez does not have his best stuff in a rehab start with the Hammerheads, and Batavia picked up their first win of the season.

Triple-A:

New Orleans Zephyrs (36-37)  vs. Oklahoma City RedHawks (37-32)

L 3-1

Donovan Solano, 3B: 2-for-4

Bryan Petersen, DH: 2-for-4, 2B (18), SO

Brian Flynn, SP: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 3 R, BB, 4 K

Jonathan Albaladejo, RP: 2.0 IP, 2 H, 4 SO

Solano picked up two hits on the night, but cost Brian Flynn severely with a key error that led to the RedHawks runs in the seventh inning. Catcher Kyle Skipworth also made an errant throw to ruin an otherwise strong performance from Flynn. Regardless of the defense behind him, Flynn continues to impress in his first full season in the Marlins farm system in 2013.

Double-A: Jacksonville Suns
No game scheduled

High Class A:

Bradenton Marauders (26-41) @ Jupiter Hammerheads (35-32)

Win 11-5

Brent Keys, CF: 3-for-5, 2 RBI

Alex Burg, RF: 2-for-3, 2B (6), 2 RBI

Henderson Alvarez, SP: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, BB, K

Tyler Higgins, RP: 2.0 IP, 2 H, ER, BB, 4 SO

The Hammerheads offense broke out in a huge way behind Alvarez, making his second rehab start with the team. He only picked up one strikeout in the game and has that same total number for the season, but the more imporant thing for the Marlins is that he is pitching healthy currently.

Low Class A: Greensboro Grasshoppers
No game scheduled

Short-Season:

Auburn DoubleDays (1-1) @ Batavia Muckdogs (1-1)

Win 10-2

Avery Romero, 2B: 2-for-3, BB, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB, SO

Blake Barber, 3B: 3-for-4, HR (1), 2 RBI, 2 R

Helpi Reyes, SP: 3.0 IP, H, 2 BB, K

Robert Ravago, RP: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, K, SV (1)

The Muckdogs evened their record for the season in the process of winning their first game. Austin Dean his his second triple of the season, while their infield seven hits and drove in eight of the ten runs in the game. Avery Romero collected two hits on the game and walked once. He and Dean are the most well known prospect for the Marlins currently playing in Short Season.
