Down On The Farm Miami Marlins Daily Report: July 9th
Triple-A:
Iowa Cubs (47-47) @ New Orleans Zephyrs (45-48)
Kyle Jensen, LF: 2-for-4, HR (4), 2B (5), R, RBI, SO
Bryan Petersen, RF: 2-for-4, 2B (22)
Jared Rogers, SP: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, BB, 2 SO
Chris Hatcher, RP: 1.0 IP, 2 H, ER, BB, SV (25)
The Zephyrs dropped the Cubs on Wednesday, as they were able to jump out to a 6-0 lead early in the game. Unfortunately, they would not score again in the game, but their pitching just barley held off the Cubs. Jensen already has four home runs and five doubles in 50 Triple-A at bats.
Double-A:
Mobile BayBears (53-37) @ Jacksonville Suns (44-43)
Christian Yelich, LF: 0-for-4, SO
J.T. Realmuto, C: 1-for-3, BB
Robert Morey, SP: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, BB, 2 SO, HR
Scott McGough, RP: 1.0 IP, H, BB, SO
Christian Yelich made his return to the Suns lineup and the team walked six times in the game. Unfortunately, that was the only positive thing for the Suns in the game. They were shutout and only had three hits for the game. The loss dropped them to just one game over .500 for the season. Hopefully Yelich’s return can spark better play over the next couple of days.
High Class A:
Jupiter Hammerheads (43-43) @ Fort Meyers Miracle (55-29)
Suspended Rain (3-0 Hammerheads)
Low Class A:
Greensboro Grasshoppers (43-45) @ Lexington Legends (44-42)
Yordy Cabrera, 3B: 2-for-4, R, BB, SO
Matt Juengel. 1B: 2-for-2, 2B (16), HR (8), 2 R, 2 RBI, BB
Ramon Del Orbe, SP: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO
Frankie Reed, RP: 1.0 IP, SO, SV (10)
Matt Juengel had a huge game, as both of hits went for extra bases and he was able to reach base all three times he came up. Juengel has 16 homers and 8 doubles on the season and owns a .286/.358/.435 slash line.
New York-Penn League:
Vermont Lake Monsters (10-13) @ Batavia Muckdogs (11-11)
Felix Munoz, 1B: 2-for-4, HR (5), 2 R, 3 RBI
Avery Romero, 2B: 1-for-3, 2B (7), R, 2 RBI
Jarlin Garcia, SP: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, ER, 3 BB, 6 SO
Colby Suggs, RP: 0.1 IP, SV (2)
When the Muckdogs led the Monster 8-3 headed into the top of the eight, recent first round pick Colby Suggs must have thought he was going to have a nice off day. Things turned for the worse in the eight and ninth innings and the Batavia manager had to turn to Suggs to pick up his second career save. Suggs has yet to give up a run and has only allowed 2 hits in his first 6 professional innings of work.
Gulf Coast League:
Gulf Coast Nationals (-) vs Gulf Coast Marlins (8-7)
