I drove 3 ½ hours from Orlando to Miami on Saturday night just to see a Marlins game. Was it worth it? Well yea, it’s baseball (and Marlins baseball on that)! But could the Marlins win the series? Welcome to this edition of The Good, The Great, and The Heat. First up the quick recap- The Good: we won 3-2; The Great: Giancarlo Stanton Home Run Blast; and The Heat: Jose Fernandez. Let’s now go more in depth on how the Marlins fared against one of the better teams in baseball.

The Good:

The Marlins won 3-2 and took the series from the Pirates 2-1. This win gives us the second series in a row that we have won. Not bad for a young team. Speaking of young, how did The Great Giancarlo do?

The Great:

Picture this… we enter the 6th inning tied 2-2 with one out and up comes Giancarlo. What does he do? THE FIRST IS PITCH OUT OF HERE! Giancarlo sends that ball out of the park to give the Marlins the lead and they never looked back. Giancarlo went 2-3 with a double, HR, 2 R, and a RBI. He was great, but there was one player who was better.

The Heat:

Jose was throwing heat today! He went 8 innings and struck out a career high 13! He hit 99 mph today and only threw 97 pitches! He might have had a rough 2nd inning but he recovered from that, his team helped him out run wise, and he went on to win his 7th game of the season. Can you say Rookie of the Year? I can!

Next up is the Mets! This is a team whose number we have had all season. Hopefully that will continue and win another series or even better get our first 4 wins in a row this season! I know we can do it. Till next time as always… Let’s Go Marlins!
