Greatest Moment In Marlins History: #141 Next Pick
Welcome back to the Greatest Moments in Marlins History. We continue our countdown with moment #141. Up to this point we have signed some player from our try outs, drafted some amateurs from the amateur draft, and went to the Caribbean and picked up some players; now we need players who we know really can play. Enter into the 1992 Expansion Draft.

On November 17, 1992 the Florida Marlins and Colorado Rockies held there Expansion Draft so they could fill out their teams. Each team got 36 picks and with the 1st pick the Marlins chose Nigel Wilson from the Toronto Blue Jays. We also selected Mr. Marlin himself, Jeff Conine, from the Kansas City Royals. In this draft the Marlins and Rockies combined to draft 11 All-Stars, including one of our first All-Stars, Bryan Harvey (spoiler alert he will have a moment later on this list).
On November 17th we also made some trades to bring Walt Weiss and Alex Arias to our team.
The Marlins were starting to look like a real team now. On a side note, the 8th pick of the Draft was Trevor Hoffman, who was involved in a mid-season trade that brought Gary Sheffield to the Marlins in 1993. Join me next time when we take a look at moment 140. Till then as always… Let’s Go Marlins!
