It appears that the days for Logan Morrison in Miami may be numbered. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Miami is very close to signing Garrett Jones to play first base. If this ends up being finalized, the Marlins would obviously be out on Mike Napoli as well.

Ken also believes that Morrison may be on his way out.
Signing of G. Jones by #Marlins will mean no Napoli in Miami and likely lead to a trade of @LoMoMarlins (Logan Morrison).

Jones, 32, is primarily a first baseman but is able to fill in at right field if needed. Steamer projects Jones to hit more home runs than Logan Morrison, but not get on base as much. The Marlins have made it clear that they are looking for some power to interject into the lineup and this must be the way they feel best accomplishes that.
The Marlins have been dangling Morrison in trade talks for the last few weeks. It looks like this would assure Morrison’s exit from Miami. Presumably Miami would pursue a third baseman with Morrison. If the Rangers are able to sign Mike Napoli, the Red Sox may be interested in obtaining Morrison for one of their multiple third base options.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, has reported the contract details of the Marlins offer.
Marlins will pay Garrett Jones between $7M and $8M total in the two year deal, by the way.Hit .233,15,51 in 2013 but .274,27,86 in 2012.

This contract would allow the Marlins flexibility in 2 years when they are presumed to make their playoff push, and provide Stanton with more protection in the lineup for the next couple of years. What do you think about the potential move? Let us know in the comments below.
