Welcome back to the Greatest Moments in Marlins History. Today we end our look at the Marlins past Lou Brock Award Winner. With moment 112 we take you back to 1993 and Chuck Carr’s 58 stolen base season. This season already had a first at bat home run in the All-Star game and a shut out inning in that All-Star game (trust me there are many more to come). So a nice way to end this season is Carr winning the Lou Brock Award. Carr didn’t steal his first base for the Marlins until eleventh game of the season against the Houston Astros; but after that there was no stopping him.
Carr had 8 multiple stolen base games, with 3 of those being 3 stolen bases in one game. Carr would hold the record for most stolen bases for the Marlins until 2000 when it was broken by Luis Castillo; nevertheless Carr will always have the distinction of being the first ever Marlin to win the Lou Brock Award. That is a total of five Lou Brock Awards the Marlins have won.
Retelling these stories of awards Marlins have won has pretty fun. Let’s continue the trend and see what award we bring up tomorrow. Till then as always… Let’s Go Marlins
