After yesterday’s 3-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves dropped the Miami Marlins spring record to 8-4, they will try to rebound today against the Detroit Tigers.  The Marlins will send Jacob Turner to the mound against his old team as he works to solidify his claim on the #4 spot in the rotation.

Turner has had a rough start to his spring with an 0-1 record and an unsightly 6.23 ERA.  So far this year’s camp is reminiscent of last year’s for Turner when he posted a 9.69 ERA and wound starting the season in AAA New Orleans.  The Marlins are counting on Turner to be in their rotation after he posted a very respectable 3.74 ERA in 20 major league starts last season.

The Tigers will counter with left hander Drew Smyly who has posted a 1-0 record and 3.38 ERA so far.  Smyly is expected to take over a rotation spot for the Tigers this season after a very effective season last year coming out of the bullpen.

The Marlins line up will be:

Jake Marisnick DH

Christian Yelich LF

Giancarlo Stanton RF

Garrett Jones 1B

Jarrod  Saltalamacchia C

Casey  McGehee 3B

Marcell Ozuna CF

Ed Lucas 2B

Adeiny  Hechavarria SS

Jacob Turner P

The Marlins will be taking the bus ride up to Lakeland, Florida for a 1:05 PM start and the game will be available on MLB.TV.
