Happy Easter to everyone and welcome to this week’s The Good, The Great, and The Instant Replay Marlins Recap. I hope everyone is having a great holiday. Let’s check out the quick recap- The Good: The Marlins won; The Great: the Marlins sweep the series; and The Instant Replay: He was out, I mean safe. How did the Marlins pull off this win? Let’s jump on into the game.

The Good:

The Marlins won 3-2! The Marlins fell behind to the Mariners early in the game 2-0 and it looked like the Marlins were going to have their winning streak snapped, but Donovan Solano singled in Garrett Jones in the 5th to cut the lead to 2-1. In the 8th the Marlins added two more runs thanks to a Jones fielder’s choice (which we will get more into that in a minute), and an Adeiny Hechavarria sac fly that gave the Marlins a 3-2 lead. In the 9th Steve Cishek came in to pick up his 32nd consecutive save! This win gave the Marlins…

The Great:

… the series sweep of the Mariners! The Marlins picked up there first series sweep of a team this season (something that was few and far between last season). The 6th series into the season the Marlins have their first sweep and their 3rd series win. It’s a great way to start.

The Instant Replay:

Let’s talk about Jones’ fielder’s choice that tied the game for the Marlins in the 8th. The bases were loaded with Christian Yelich on 3rd and 1 out. When Jones made contact with the ball and grounded it to the 1st baseman, Yelich was running full speed to home. He slid into home and was called out. The thing is from my angle at home it looked like he beat the throw, and Mike Redman and Yelich thought so too. To the cameras! After a few moments the ump took off the head set and overturned the call! The Marlins tied the game up and still had the bases loaded with 1 out. I love instant replay (especially when it’s in our favor).

Next for the Marlins is a 6 game road trip against the Braves and the Mets. So get your road jerseys ready and let’s root for our Fish! Until next time… Let’s Go Marlins!
