Welcome to The Good, The McGehee, and The Brad (not Pitt) Marlins Recap, coming at you after the All-Star break.  In the last game of the series against the Giants, how did the Marlins do? Well here is the quick recap- The Good: The Marlins win; The McGehee: Casey McGehee’s homer; and The Brad (not Pitt): Brad Hand. The quick recap is done so let’s see how this game played out.

The Good:

The Marlins won 3-2 thanks in part to a 7th inning wild pitch that Adeiny Hechavarria scored on from 3rd to give the Marlins the 3-2 lead. This win prevented the Giants from sweeping our Fish and snapped our 6 game losing streak. It also helped that Steve Cishek came in and went 1-2-3 in the 9th. Now I can hear you asking, but Andy how did the Marlins score 2 run before Hech? Well…

The McGehee:

In the 1st inning with a 0-2 count Casey got a hold of a ball and sent it over the left center wall for his 2nd home run of the season. The last time Casey hit a homer was May 10th against the Padres. This was his first home run as a Marlin in Marlins Park. He still might be 26 homers away from his numbers last year in Japan, but it’s fun watching him show some power.

The Brad (not Pitt):

Credit also needs to be given to Brad Hand. Winning his 1st game of the season and 3rd in his career, Brad went 7 innings, gave up 6 hits, 2 R/ER, 1 BB, and struck out 4 batter on only 96 pitches. In a game where the Marlins bullpen needed a rest, Brad made sure that they got it. Brad had this game in Hand. Get it?? Ok I’ll stop with the jokes.

The Marlins head tomorrow to Atlanta for a 4 game series against the Braves. Tune in and cheer on our Marlins! Let’s go Fish!
