It’s Sunday and I’m in Miami so you know what that means… Well yes today is the first episode of Marlin Family Live (shameless plug), but it’s also this week’s edition of The Good, The Great, The Season Series. Let’s start with our quick recap- The Good: the Marlins win; The Great: the 5th and 6th inning; The Season Series: the Marlins win! Now that that’s out of the way let’s get into the full recap.
The Good:
The Marlins took the rubber match between the Braves 2 games to 1, winning this game 4-0. With this win the Marlins are now 4 games back of the Braves and Milwaukee for the final wild card spot. How did the Marlins put up 4 runs? Well…
The Great:
Entering the 5th inning this game was a great pitching duel between Brad Hand and Julio Teheran. That was until Jarrod Saltalamacchia singled in Garrett Jones to give the Marlins a one run lead. The run support didn’t stop there, in the 6th Donovan Solano singled in Christian Yelich. Two batters later Marcell Ozuna doubled in Solano. The final run came from Salty’s sac fly scoring Casey McGehee, making the score 4-0. That’s all the Marlins pitching would need to put this game in the Win column. Speaking of wins…
The Season Series:
The Marlins beat the Braves this season 10 out if 19 games! This marks the first time the Marlins have taken the season from the Braves since 2009. Not bad from the team that everyone said was going to finish last in the NL East. Marlins headed to Milwaukee tomorrow for a 4 game series against the Brewers. Keep cheering on the Marlins as they make their push for the playoffs. Until then, as always, let’s go Marlins!
