Dee Gordon Already Donating To Florida Community

Dee Gordon has only been a Marlin for a couple weeks, but he is already giving thanks to the community. On Saturday, Gordon held his First Annual Dee Gordon Boys & Girls Club Christmas Basketball Tournament in Avon Park.

Gordon grew up in Central Florida and attended Avon Park High School then Seminole Community College and Southeastern University. So Florida is a homecoming for Gordon, not a new adventure.

At the event, free food, drinks, music, and bounce houses were available to everyone who showed up. Gordon’s father, Tom “Flash” Gordon used to do something very similar when Dee was younger.

Gordon may have spent the last couple years in Los Angeles, but he began to help the community long before being traded to the Marlins. Now, it will simply be easier for him to give back to the community he grew up in.

Gordon is not the only Marlin that has recently joined the team and grew up in Florida. Both Mat Latos and Michael Morse are from south Florida and just as eager to play for the team they grew up watching.

Gordon likely spent today with his grandparents at his church, as he does every Christmas. He enjoys the season of giving for all those around him. Now being a Miami Marlin, his family has grown just a little bit more and he has already started to reach out to all that he can. Expect Gordon’s charitable reach to continue to grow with his years with the Marlins.
