After exploding for 9 runs on Friday night, the Miami Marlins offense returned back to earth on Saturday afternoon, as Chris Archer dominated their lineup.
The Miami Marlins failed to build on their Friday night win, as their offense returned to its anemic state, with Rays starter Chris Archer only allowing them on hit through his 7 innings of work. Christian Yelich‘s double in the 4th inning was the only blemish on Archer’s line, as he struck out 5 and didn’t walk a single hitter.

Jarred Cosart had a solid start for the Marlins on the surface. However, his 3 walks and just 1 strikeout don’t bode well for future starts, as all three hits Cosart allowed went for extra bases. He will need to cut down on his walks and get a few more whiffs to give the Marlins the best chance to win each time he goes out to pitch.
Mike Dunn allowed a home run in his 1 1/3 innings of work, but other than that, he and Sam Dyson pitched well in relief. That was a great sight to see after the Marlins bullpen really struggled on Friday night.
Kevin Jepsen and Brad Boxberger combined to one hit the Marlins in their two innings of work, striking out three and walking one.
