After exploding for 9 runs on Friday night, the Miami Marlins offense returned back to earth on Saturday afternoon, as Chris Archer dominated their lineup.

The Miami Marlins failed to build on their Friday night win, as their offense returned to its anemic state, with Rays starter Chris Archer only allowing them on hit through his 7 innings of work. Christian Yelich‘s double in the 4th inning was the only blemish on Archer’s line, as he struck out 5 and didn’t walk a single hitter.

Jarred Cosart had a solid start for the Marlins on the surface. However, his 3 walks and just 1 strikeout don’t bode well for future starts, as all three hits Cosart allowed went for extra bases. He will need to cut down on his walks and get a few more whiffs to give the Marlins the best chance to win each time he goes out to pitch.

Mike Dunn allowed a home run in his 1 1/3 innings of work, but other than that, he and Sam Dyson pitched well in relief. That was a great sight to see after the Marlins bullpen really struggled on Friday night.

Kevin Jepsen and Brad Boxberger combined to one hit the Marlins in their two innings of work, striking out three and walking one.

B-. Stats: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 SO <p>Making his first start of the season, Jarred Cosart had a decent outing for the Marlins, overcoming a cut on his hand he sustained batting in the third inning. Cosart struck out just one hitter and walked 3, which led to him working out of trouble most of the night. He threw 51 of his 86 pitches in the 5th and 6th inning. All three of the hits Cosart allowed went for extra bases. Cosart’s 1.50 ERA may look nice, but his 4.03 FIP and 5.21 xFIP paint a better picture of how he pitched.  </p>. SP. Miami Marlins. JARRED COSART

C. Stats: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO <p>Good news, Mike Dunn struck out two hitters and continues to do well in that department. The bad news, he gave up a solo home run to <strong><a href=. RP. Miami Marlins. MIKE DUNN

B. Stats: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO <p>Nice bounce back game for Dyson, after walking in two runners with the bases loaded Friday. Relieving Dunn in the 8th, Dyson struck out the only two batters he faced in the 8th. His sinker had really good sink to it. After getting two ground ball outs to begin the 9th, Dyson allowed back-to-back singles and a stolen base, but still worked out of the inning on a great play by <strong><a href=. RP. Miami Marlins. SAM DYSON

Stats: 7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO <p>Chris Archer was dominant in this ballgame, shutting down the Marlins lineup and out pitching his counterpart Jarred Cosart. Archer was only at 84 pitches through 7 innings and if we were in May or June, he’d likely would have had a chance to complete this game.</p>. SP. Tampa Bay Rays. CHRIS ARCHER. A

C. Stats: 1/3, 2 SO <p>Ozuna, as mentioned above, collected the Marlins second hit of the night in the 8th inning, after Chris Archer had already departed. Against Archer, Ozuna struck out both times he faced him. </p>. CF. Miami Marlins. MARCELL OZUNA

. D. <p>Only 3 Marlins reached base Saturday: Yelich twice and Ozuna once. Other than those two, not a single Marlins came close to sniffing first base. Giancarlo Stanton struck out twice with Yelich on first base, hurting two of the Marlins only chances to score. The Marlins have now been shutout twice in 5 games and held under 2 runs in 4 of the 5 games.</p>. . Miami Marlins
