Things are looking up in Miami, as the Miami Marlins won their third straight series, after defeating the Phillies 7-0 this afternoon. The win pushes Miami to 12-12, which is an incredible mark considering the 3-11 start this team endured.

Hitting continues to be this teams deadliest weapon, led by the scalding hot bat of Dee Gordon. Gordon reached base 5 times on Saturday, going 3-3 with two walks, and adding two steals.
His batting average to an unfathomable .440, but the Marlin Maniac staff suspects a sacrifice to the BABIP gods.
His streak is no doubt being upheld by a solid run of luck, but it’s impossible to overlook what he’s doing right now. I’m just going to ignore the sabermetric warning and enjoy it while it lasts. As long as he keeps getting on base, this team is going to have a shot to win games.
Giancarlo Stanton was less fortunate today, going 0-4 with 3 strikeouts, but was able to drive in a run on a sacrifice fly.
Rookie backstop J.T. Realmuto rebounded at the plate, driving in two runs on two hits, but is still only hitting .245/.250/.340 on the year.
Ideally, he will continue to grow as the season progresses, and contribute on a daily basis. With Jarrod Saltalamacchia gone, Realmuto needs to prove that he’s the long term answer; we have all witnessed how impatient this front office can be.
On the mound, Dan Haren was able to last 6 shutout innings, striking out four without allowing a walk. Nick Masset was credited with the win, and Sam Dyson sealed it in the 9th.
All in all, this was another impressive win for the Fish, who have now won 9 of their last 10 games. Tomorrow, they will look to complete the sweep against this hapless Phillies team.
