Good morning, Marlin Maniac readers and welcome to Morning Catch, the daily morning news and notes column from MarlinManiac.com about your Miami Marlins.
As the 2015 campaign winds down, it becomes more clear by the day that the Marlins are looking for a new long-term manager. Just yesterday, a couple of names were released as speculative cases for replacement.
Dusty Baker and Manny Acta are both names which hold significant value for the Fish. While other potential managers’ names have been thrown in the mix, these are the lead two candidates.
"Career Managerial Records:Mike Redmond: 155-207 (.428%)Dan Jennings: 48-64 (.428%)Dusty Baker: 1671-1504 (.526%)Manny Acta: 372-518 (.418%)"
In stark contrast to the inexperience of both Redmond and Jennings, Dusty Baker and Manny Acta prove to be veterans at their position. Yes, Baker and Acta may not have been forced to deal with as many injuries as the Marlins managers have had to deal with, but experience should make up for a large portion of that.
Joe Frisaro also listed that other candidates include “Jim Riggleman, Bud Black and Larry Bowa.” It appears as if the Fish have officially begin their 2016 managerial search.

MIAMI (AP) — Tom Koehler wasn’t as sharp as he has been and the Philadelphia Phillies took advantage.
Koehler (10-14) allowed four runs, three earned, and seven hits in five innings Tuesday night as the Miami Marlins lost 6-2.
“Just never really got in sync all night,” Marlins manager Dan Jennings said. “Couldn’t find his release point and his rhythm was not what we had seen of him in the past.”
Koehler was 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his previous three starts, but struggled from the onset in this one. (Read More Here)

MIAMI — As the Marlins enter their final homestand of the season, the organization already is weighing its managerial candidates for 2016. Miami is seeking an experienced manager, and a source on Tuesday confirmed to MLB.com that Manny Acta has interviewed for the position.
The Marlins are seeking candidates with previous big league experience, and Acta fits the mold having previously managed the Nationals and Indians. The Marlins are in the beginning stages of their search, which will include a number of candidates.
