Morning Marlin Maniacs, and welcome to today’s Fish Flash. The holiday week is underway, which I’m hoping means you’ve been far busier than the Miami Marlins have been. If you have, then you’ve completely missed our one week hiatus while halls have been decked, pantries have been stocked, and all the other fun house hold tasks that such times require have transpired.

More from Marlin Maniac

November is a traditionally action packed month for the franchise, with some of the most notable transactions in Marlins history taking place in the Turkey Day vicinity. Needless to say, you’ve missed out on no Josh Beckett to Boston level deals thus far in 2016. But that doesn’t mean there’s no news to report either. So from a review of some prospect action, to a special nod from the league, to a bizarre ownership rumor, we’ve got you covered. Time to dive in.

Do Marlins Actually Have A Position Player Prospect?

First up, per Jim Callis of MLB.com, the Arizona Fall League Championship was played the other day. Now, this might not have made your sports radar, but I can assure you the Marlins were paying attention. Turns out the Marlins were well represented, particularly at the plate.

Unforgettable Moment Honored

Next, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com breaks down the incredible tribute the Marlins organization paid to Jose Fernandez the day following the tragic loss of the young superstar. The eyes of baseball were on South Florida that night, a point demonstrated one last time by a special honor. See what else was in contention, and please take time to be thankful this week for what you have.

Ownership Change?

Lastly, Nicholas Nehamas of the Miami Herald put out a curious story just before the weekend. Turns out there was some shortly lived scuttlebutt about a new ownership group considering making a bid for the Fish. Find out who it was, and whether there was any true two-way interest in a deal getting done.

That’s all for now. We’ll check in Wednesday with another round of news. Again- something major breaking before the holiday seems unlikely, but we’ve been there before with this bunch.
