The Miami Marlins broke a 14-game losing streak against the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon. Other things were afoot behind the scenes.

According to the MLB transactional rules, a player can only be “outrighted” one time in his career, without the player’s consent. This is the third time in Shuck’s career that he has been outrighted, so he apparently consented to it.

Joe Gunkel
Joe Gunkel was sent from the Baby Cakes to the GCL Marlins on a rehab assignment. Before going on the DL, Gunkel had appeared in 11 games with the Baby Cakes, starting five. He had struck out 27 in 38 innings, with a 4.74 ERA and a 1.211 WHIP.
