The Miami Marlins played the Philadelphia Phillies in a soggy Citizen’s Bank Park on Thursday night. Justin Bour hit a two-run fourth-inning home run, and Pablo Lopez flashed brilliance.
The Miami Marlins minor league affiliates had a few movements of note.
Tommy Eveld
Eveld was a ninth-round draftee of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016. He’s got 137 whiffs in 119 innings, a .187 career oppBA, and a 1.96 ERA in parts of three minor league seasons. He joined the Miami Marlins system in exchange for 38-year-old setup man Brad Ziegler. Today, he was assigned to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Miami’s double-A level club in the Southern League.
Bryson Brigman
Brigman was a third round pick of the Seattle Mariners in 2016. This season with the Modesto Nuts, he’s slashed .304/.373/.491 in 98 games. He joined the Marlins in exchange for Cameron Maybin and $250,000 of international bonus pool money. Assigned to the Jupiter Hammerheads today, he didn’t get a chance to play, as they were rained out visiting the Fort Myers Miracle.
John Silviano
Silvanio has emerged as a legitimate source of power at the high-A level this season for Jupiter. He’s hit 12 this year in 66 games, slashing .281/.365/.489 before going on the disabled list on June 26th. Today he was activated and sent to the GCL Marlins on a rehab assignment. He collected an RBI-single and a stolen base in early action.

He’s also given up just six hits and four runs in that time. Today, he was moved back two levels, from the Hammerheads to the Batavia Muckdogs.
Rodrigo Ayarza
Ayarza, who was slashing .205/.307/.265 with the Hammerheads, was sent down to the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
Jose Devers
Devers, Miami’s 12th rated prospect, was placed on the seven-day DL retroactive to July 30th. Part of the Giancarlo Stanton trade yield, he has slashed .273/.313/.332 in 85 games this year for the Grasshoppers.
Martin Anderson
25-year-old Anderson, who signed with the Marlins through free agency on April 18th this year, was granted his release. A left-handed pitcher most recently with the Muckdogs, Anderson had allowed a .329 oppBA and a 7.91 ERA in 19 1/3 innings between GCL and Batavia.
