Miami Marlins Transactions: Bradshaw, Encarnacion Promoted; Holloway, Cooper Begin Rehab
Over the last three days, the Miami Marlins have had a few things going on below the major league level.
Garrett Cooper
Garrett Cooper was sent by the Miami Marlins to the Jupiter Hammerheads for a rehab assignment. In just 14 games for the Marlins at the major-league level, Cooper is hitting .212/.316/.242. This is his second rehab assignment attempt. In his first two games back with the Hammerheads, he’s gone one-for-five with a walk.
Jose Devers
On Friday, the Hammerheads placed SS Jose Devers on the seven-day DL, retroactive to August 8th. Devers, still just 18-years-old, hit .273/.313/.332 in 85 games for the Greensboro Grasshoppers this season. He’s played in two games with Jupiter now, and gone two-for-eight.
J.C. Millan
The Hammerheads also put the other half of their double-play combination on the DL, sending 2B Millan to the seven-day list for the second time in the last 30 days. Millan has slashed out a .233/.318/.346 line in 46 games at four different levels of Marlins minor league ball this year.
Will Allen
On Thursday, Allen was promoted to the Hammerheads from the Grasshoppers. The backstop is three-for-eight with a walk since joining Jupiter.
Jordan Holloway
Holloway was Miami’s 14th ranked prospect as recently as 2016, according to the MLB Pipeline. He’s starting a rehab assignment with the GCL Marlins for the second time this season. In yesterday morning’s contest against the GCL Nationals, he struck out the side in his only inning of work.
Scott Sebald
The Grasshoppers placed Sebald on the seven-day DL retroactive to August 14th. Sebald is 2-4 this year with a 5.29 ERA and a 1.36 ERA over 32 1/3 innings with middle-A Greensboro.
Edward Cabrera
Cabrera was activated from the seven-day DL and sent to the Grasshoppers. In his first appearance on Thursday, he allowed a run and struck out three in two innings.
