Miami Marlins: Marlins unveil new “City Connect” Uniforms (Photos Included)

The Miami Marlins have unveiled their new “City Connect” uniforms, and as you’d expect, they are awesome. 

After the Boston Red Sox debuted City Connect uniforms to pay tribute to the Boston Marathon during the month of April, the Miami Marlins have joined the party becoming the second team to unveil their City Connect unis.

The Marlins announced on Monday morning the debut of their new “City Connect” uniforms, which pay homage to the Cuban Sugar Kings. The uniforms are a part of MLB’s collaboration for special City Connect uniforms with Nike, with Miami becoming the second of seven teams to unveil uniforms in 2021.

The Sugar Kings were a former minor league organization that has a special connection to the Cuban American population of South Florida. Playing in Triple-A in the International League out of Havana, Cuba from 1954-1960, the Sugar Kings aspired to become a major league team based out of Cuba.

Are these the greatest MLB/Nike City Connect uniforms yet? Yes, there have only been two, but it’s hard to bet against these from Miami.

The Marlins will be debuting the new uniforms on the field on Friday night when they host the Mets at 7:10 pm ET. These uniforms will be worn throughout the weekend series against the Mets, which also includes the Marlins “Cuban Heritage Night.” They will also be worn for a few more weekend series’ throughout the season.
