The Miami Marlins received an injury update on Tuesday afternoon for a previously injured starter, as well as updates for others.

It was revealed on Tuesday afternoon that Miami Marlins starting third baseman Brian Anderson has been placed on the 10-day IL with left shoulder subluxation.

Anderson previously suffered the injury to his shoulder in Monday night’s game against the Phillies where he hurt his shoulder when sliding into third base in the previous inning, and had to be removed from the game.

According to Marlins manager Don Mattingly, Anderson had been dealing with this for a couple of days before he aggravated it on Monday. Mattingly also added that there is some concern when something stiffens up the way that it did for Anderson.

This is obviously a blow for the Marlins who seemed to be finally getting back healthy, but for Anderson as well who had been swinging a hot bat in recent games.

Other Miami Marlins injury updates.

  • Starling Marte is beginning a rehab stint in Triple-A with Jacksonville today.
  • Top prospect Sixto Sanchez is scheduled to throw a bullpen this week. While still a ways away from a return, this is obviously a step in the right direction.
  • Elieser Hernandez was recently transferred to the 60-day IL, but is eligible to return on June 4. Hernandez has been making rehab starts in Triple-A with Jacksonville where he was named this past week’s Triple-A East Pitcher of the Week.
  • Miami Marlins #4 prospect Edward Cabrera recently threw live BP with another to come this week.
  • Jordan Holloway recently left Friday’s game with a right groin strain, and is listed as day-to-day.
  • Lewis Brinson

recently took batting practice on Sunday and Monday, and could be nearing a return.

This injury to Anderson is obviously not good news, but it appears that the Marlins will also get a few returns soon in the process as well.
