While a few other notable Miami Marlins players have taken the spotlight in recent weeks, one player in particular is having a phenomenal month of June.

It is no secret that the Miami Marlins as a team have struggled so far during the month of June. Sporting a 5-11 record since June 1, the Marlins now find themselves 10 games below .500, and seemingly fighting to avoid falling out of potential playoff contention.

Despite the Marlins struggles, there are a few players in particular having phenomenal months of June so far. Starling Marte has been one of the hottest hitters in the game, while Miami has also gotten the usual strong pitching performances from their starters.

While these players have arguably carried this Marlins team over the past 2-3 weeks, there has been one player in particular that has quietly had an outstanding month of June. As you can see by the title, that is in fact Marlins utility man Jon Berti.

Miami Marlins utility man Jon Berti has had a phenomenal June so far.

While Berti is normally a utility man for the Marlins, the 31-year old was forced into more of an everyday role early on this season due to injuries sustained to the Marlins everyday starters. While Berti struggled at the plate for the first two months of the season, things have started to click for Berti at the plate when the calendar turned to June.

Entering the month of June, Berti was arguably in his coldest stretch of the season only collecting four hits in his last 13 games. It was evident that Berti was struggling offensively, but that has changed since.

Through the first 15 games of June, Berti has collected 15 hits in 47 at-bats. During this stretch, Berti has collected a hit in 10 games which also includes five multi-hit games, eight runs scored, two RBI’s, seven walks, and nine strikeouts.

For the month, Berti is slashing .319/.407/.362, allowing his season averages to raise a substantial amount. Looking at his averages since beginning the month of June to now, it’s just another example of how good he has been during this stretch at the plate.

Jon Berti Season Averages – (Beginning of June to Current)

  • AVG – .170 to .214
  • OBP – .282 to .319
  • SLG – .286 to .308
  • OPS – .568 to .627

While he might not be driving in as many runs, Berti is getting on base at a very good level right now which will only help the Marlins going forward. While the season numbers might not yet be what they have been during his career, it is clear that something has clicked for Berti offensively.
