As the Miami Marlins 2021 season approaches the half-way point, the MLB All-Star Break is fast approaching right around the corner.

One of the most anticipated events of the baseball season is the All-Star Break. Not only do you have must-see events such as the MLB All-Star Game and the Home Run Derby, but one of the most looked-forward-to events across the All-Star Break is the Futures Game.

The Futures Game presents an annual opportunity for some of the top prospects in all of baseball to take the field on a national stage. Not only does this provide an always entertaining game to watch, but it also provides an opportunity for fans to watch the numerous future stars of the sport all on the same field together.

While every team has at least one top prospect selected to play in the annual event, this year’s Miami Marlins’ prospect making the trip to Colorado has the potential to feature a prominent role.

Miami Marlins No. 3 Prospect Max Meyer selected to 2021 Futures Game.

Max Meyer, the Marlins No. 3 Prospect according to MLB Pipeline, will be representing Miami at this year’s showcase event for baseball’s next stars.

Meyer, the Marlins First Round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft out of Minnesota, has been phenomenal this season down in Double-A with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Through 10 starts on the season, Meyer currently sports a 4-1 record with a 1.84 ERA with 24 BB’s and 50 K’s across 49 innings pitched.

Currently ranked as MLB’s No. 20 overall prospect, Meyer will certainly be a candidate to potentially make the start on the mound after his strong start to the season. Due to his elite wipeout slider and fastball combined with being one of the top prospects in the game, it’s almost a given the 22-year old right-hander will throw at least one inning in this year’s Futures Game.

You can watch Meyer represent the Marlins on Sunday, July 11 when one of the top young pitchers in the game takes the field for the MLB Futures Game.
