The Miami Marlins have seen some phenomenal performances from top prospects and more down on the farm over the past week. In fact, these weeks from a few players in particular were so good that the Marlins organization had four players named to this weeks Minor League Player/Pitcher of the Week honors.

Four Miami Marlins minor leaguers selected as Minor League Players/Pitchers of the Week.

Here is a look at each of the four players selected with player/pitcher of the week honors, and what they have done up to this point in the season.

Peyton Burdick – Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos

Burdick, the Marlins No. 11 prospect, was outstanding this week for the Blue Wahoos slashing .571/.667/1.286 with four HR’s and six RBI’s. An obvious choice for the Double-A South Player of the Week, the 24-year-old outfielder has slashed .221/.375/.484 with 19 HR’s and 42 RBI’s through 285 at-bats this season.

Troy Johnston – High-A Beloit Snappers

Antonio Velez – High-A Beloit Snappers

While other notable Marlins’ pitching prospects may have gotten most of the shine over the past week, Velez should not go unnoticed as he pitched seven scoreless innings with one hit and 10 strikeouts during the week. The 24-year-old left-hander has posted a 3.47 ERA with seven walks and 71 strikeouts during his first professional season that now includes a High-A Central Pitcher of the Week honor.

Dax Fulton – Low-A Jupiter Hammerheads

The Marlins No. 8 prospect turned in the best start of his young professional career posting five scoreless innings allowing one hit with 10 strikeouts to earn Low-A Southeast Pitcher of the Week honors. Miami’s 2020 second round pick has posted a 4.70 ERA so far this season with the Hammerheads in 53.2 innings pitched.
