For a Miami Marlins team that will not be playing postseason baseball this October, there is one thing for fans to monitor over the next couple of weeks – Who will win the 2021 NL Rookie of the Year?

The Marlins have two-to-three players that could finish high in the voting for the award, most-notably Jazz Chisholm and Anthony Bender, as well as potentially Bryan De La Cruz. However, when looking at which Marlins player has the best chance to win the award, the answer is obvious – Trevor Rogers.

Will Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers win the 2021 NL Rookie of the Year?

Widely considered as the favorite to win the 2021 NL Rookie of the Year for a majority of the season, Rogers has simply been outstanding throughout the 2021 MLB season.

After struggling during limited action a year ago, Rogers has made 22 starts so far this season where he has posted a 7-7 record with a 2.73 ERA across 118.2 innings pitched. Making his first career All-Star team this season, the left-hander has also struck out 138 batters compared to 43 walks with a .215/.293/.324 slash line against.

When looking at Rogers main competition to win the award, the arguable favorite at the moment comes from Reds second baseman Jonathan India who has slashed .271/.379/.463 this season with 19 home runs, 62 RBI’s, and nine stolen bases.

While a few others including Cubs third baseman Patrick Wisdom, Braves pitcher Ian Anderson, and Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson are all options as well, it certainly appears that the Rookie of the Year will go to either Rogers or India.

Should Rogers finish strong and win the NL Rookie of the Year, he would become only the fifth player in Marlins franchise history to win the award. Still likely to make around three-to-four more starts this season, can Rogers finish strong to win the 2021 NL Rookie of the Year?
