How are Miami Marlins prospects doing in the 2021 Arizona Fall League?
The 2021 Arizona Fall League is now fully underway with a few of the Miami Marlins prospects certainly impressing early-on. Here is a look at how each of the eight Marlins prospects have performed so far, all with the Mesa Solar Sox who currently hold a 6-4 record which is tops in the AFL East.
OF JJ Bleday
The Marlins No. 5 prospect, JJ Bleday has been arguably the Marlins biggest standout from AFL play so far. Appearing in eight games, Bleday has slashed .367/.525/.533 with one home run and eight RBI’s, as well as drawn 10 walks compared to seven strikeouts.
OF Kameron Misner
Miami’s No. 22 prospect, Misner has appeared in six games so far in which he has slashed .125/.207/.292 with one home run and four RBI’s.
RHP Evan Fitterer
The Marlins No. 24 prospect, Fitterer has made a total of two starts so far in which he holds a 1-1 record with a 3.86 ERA. Pitching a total of seven innings, the right-hander has struck out nine batters compared to four walks.
1B Troy Johnston
Playing primarily at first base, Johnston has appeared in five games so far in which he has slashed .286/.400/.333 with five RBI’s.
C Will Banfield
Seeing four starts at catcher for Mesa, Banfield has slashed .182/.333/.182 with two RBI’s, as well as a perfect fielding percentage behind the plate.
RHP Justin Evans
Evans has made three relief appearances so far where the right-hander holds a 9.00 ERA with three walks and six strikeouts across four innings pitched.
LHP Josh Simpson
Simpson has also made three relief appearances in which the left-hander holds a 8.31 ERA with four walks and seven strikeouts across 4.1 innings pitched.
LHP Jefry Yan
Making three relief appearances, Yan has posted a 3.00 ERA across three innings pitched which includes three walks and eight strikeouts.
While it is still early-on in the Arizona Fall League season, it is clear that a few of the Miami Marlins prospects playing in the AFL this year are set for success as play continues out west.
